Gen 7 Faves for February

We support small businesses not only through our services but in our daily lives with the products and services we use. This month we’re all about fitness brands. From athleisure to our favorite studios we not only prioritize fitness in our lives but the small businesses that fuel the industry. For us, it’s not just about the products/services but oftentimes the story behind the products or simply supporting a small, local, or family-owned business that we admire. Company: GLAD (Grind Like A Doll)

Product: Athleisure/Activewear

I always get so many compliments when I wear anything from GLAD! When I teach spin classes someone will always ask me where I got my outfit from. The fabric is comfortable, they offer great colors, affordable without compromising quality, Houston, TX based, and black woman owned! What’s not to love?!

Company: Ward 3 Recreation

Service: Gym/Physical Fitness Center

This is a fitness center located in the Northern part of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Although it is not a chain fitness center it definitely operates as such. I have both friends and family that attend their weekly morning classes. All of them report that they love the tight-knit community at Ward 3 and will end their chain gym membership because of it.All of their staff is professional and quick to aid any person that is in need of their assistance. I encourage anyone who is looking for a lifestyle change or wants to become more active join this great center.

Company: Tronus

Product:  Footwear/Apparel/Athleisure

Tronus is a history-making, black-owned, woman-owned athletic brand known for their lightweight, cushioned sock-top sneakers that are great for gym workouts or general all day comfort. It is the first shoe company owned by a female athlete, Santia Deck - a fitness trainer, rugby player, collegiate track athlete, and American football player in the Women’s Football League (and also a fellow alumni of my college, Texas A&M - Kingsville!). I love the brand for their incredibly comfortable and unique sneakers and recovery slides that come in a variety of colors.

Company: Waterboy

Product: Drink Mix

Waterboy is a small business that was founded super recently in 2021, in Austin, Texas. They create AMAZING electrolyte drink mixes that are sugar free, have 2x the electrolytes compared to competitors, and the flavors taste so good! I recommend Waterboy to all of my friends, they are literally the best when it comes to wanting to feel hydrated after working out or after a night out.
